What are Snapshots?

Snapshots are essentially presets within a preset, allowing you to store the bypass state of any effects and parameter settings, and recall them all seamlessly with one click (or via automation). Depending on how you set them up, snapshots can act as eight variations of the same tone, eight drastically different tones, or any combination thereof—all within the same preset.

What can Snapshots Store?

Block Bypass: The bypass (on/off) state of any processing blocks (except a Looper), independent of any footswitch bypass assignments. This also includes bypassing Split blocks and configuring complete switchable path routing changes.

Note: The bypass state of blocks is automatically stored and recalled per snapshot. To exclude a block’s bypass state from being affected by snapshots, see the steps below.

Parameter Control: The values of any blocks' Snapshot Control-enabled parameters in the current preset.
Tempo: The current system tempo, if the Tempo Select is set to Per Snapshot. (By default, it’s set to Host Sync.) See Tempo Options.

The Snapshot Panel

In the plugin’s Toolbar, click the Snapshot icon The Snapshot Panel button to display the Snapshot panel.

Click the toolbar’s Snapshot button The Snapshot Panel button to open and close the Snapshot panel. The toolbar icon’s number indicates the currently loaded snapshot. Select Snapshot 1~8 from the panel to load it.

When you hover your mouse cursor over any snapshot in the panel, its 3-dot menu button appears. Click the button to expand the command menu for the individual Snapshot, as shown above.

Rename: Optionally, customize any snapshot names in the panel as something more descriptive (e.g., Intro, Verse, Shred Solo, FX Off, etc.) Select the snapshot in the panel that you want to customize, click Rename, and enter your new name.
Copy and Paste: Instead of recreating all the settings of additional snapshots from scratch, copy one snapshot’s contents to a different snapshot and edit just the settings you want to change. Select the snapshot in the panel that you want to copy, click Copy, then select the snapshot you want to overwrite and click Paste.

Using Snapshots

In the Snapshot Panel, click one of the 8 snapshots to select a different snapshot. If you select a snapshot that hasn’t yet been configured, it appears the same as the snapshot you came from. As soon as you edit a new snapshot (say, by enabling or bypassing an amp or effect block), the snapshot becomes “active” and remembers any block’s bypass state and snapshot-assigned parameter values.
Adjust the preset by doing one or more of the following:
- Turn one or more effects on or off by clicking their bypass icon. Snapshots remember every block’s on/off state.
  - You can disable this behavior per block: Right-click on the block in the signal flow to open its Action Panel, then click the Snapshots Set Bypass toggle OFF . When off, the block’s bypass state won’t change when changing snapshots.
- To adjust a block parameter AND have it automatically update per snapshot, select the block in the signal flow, right-click on the desired Edit panel slider or knob, and set the Snapshot Ctrl toggle to On (as shown below, left). Once enabled, the a snapshot icon appears on the Edit panel parameter and its value text changes to white (as shown below, right). Click the snapshot icon to edit the Snapshot Control setting.

Select the snapshot you started with. The current plugin preset instantly and seamlessly returns to its previous state.
Save the preset with the desired snapshot loaded so that it is automatically selected when the preset is loaded.

Note: Snapshot Control can also be configured for any block’s parameters in the Automation/Controller Assign tab.

Tips for Creative Snapshot Use

Configure and name a dedicated snapshot for each section of your song: Snapshot 1 for the Intro, Snapshot 2 for Verse 1, Snapshot 3 for the Chorus, and so on. Then use your host DAW’s parameter automation to load the snapshots in real-time!
Worried that further tweaking might make your tone worse, not better? Snapshots are a great way to compare minor changes between tones without losing your settings.
Set any Delay or Reverb block’s Trails parameter to “On” for seamless spillover between snapshots.
Set different keys in Harmony Delay blocks or intervals in Pitch blocks per snapshot.
Having difficulty maintaining consistent volume levels throughout a song? Set the Output block’s Level parameter per snapshot.
Recall snapshots via an external MIDI controller device or software using the dedicated MIDI CC 69—see MIDI Control.

Note: All snapshots and their settings are retained within the current tone’s preset until another preset is loaded within the plugin. If you wish to retain all your snapshot assignments and settings with the preset permanently, be sure to Save your preset. The snapshot in use when you save your preset is the one recalled when the preset is loaded again.
